The melody from this popular baroque work first appeared in 1642. Over the coming decades evolved into the piece of music, with its instantly recognisable triplet phrases over a chorale melody, that we now associate with the great JS Bach. A popular choice at weddings and sacred services, this version has been scored for brass septet by Jim Fieldhouse. The arrangement is scored for three trumpets, horn, trombone, euphonium and tuba. There are also many alternative transpositions of the parts, to provide maximum flexibility for performance of this work with a variety of instrumentations, from both the orchestral and brass band worlds
